Rommel's Ace is part of Rommel Holdings, Inc., a mid-sized holding company located in Fruitland, MD. As a family held enterprise, it has owned and operated a variety of businesses dating back to the 1950's. Operation of Ace hardware stores began with a single unit in Ocean City, MD in 1995. An acquisition of another Ace operator greatly expanded the number of locations in the late 1990's. A new store followed in Cambridge, MD.

In late 2004 Rommel Holdings opened a Dover, DE Ace hardware store. In 2005 it opened its first Virginia Ace store in Exmore, VA. In the fall of 2006, the Perry Hall, MD Ace store opened just north of Baltimore. In early 2009 Rommel's Ace opened its second Virginia location when it transformed Parks Hardware in Chincoteague, VA into Rommel's Ace Hardware. Rommel's ACE stores in Ocean City and Cambridge, Maryland and Exmore, Virginia also sell Sleepwell Mattresses.

Today the company consists of eleven Ace Hardware stores, four Denny's Restaurants, an Uno Chicago Bar and Grill, a Skateland roller skating rink in Baltimore, MD and several commercial properties located from Baltimore to Ocean City, MD. We employ approximately 500 people in Maryland, Delaware and Virginia.
